Before You Test....
Before you get yourself or your child tested you must consider the following..

1.  Testing is not perfect and demands an immune response to get a result.  Since the immune systems of children with autism are typically dysfunctional you must do a PROVOCATION or treatment trial prior to testing to optimize your results.

2.  When a provocation is done prior to testing, clinicians are reporting numbers as high as 73% of their autism practice testing positive for Lyme disease.   So if you have previously tested without provocation, it is not conclusive.   20-30% of autistic children test positive without provocation and 73% with provocation.

At the recent Autism conference in Washington, Dietrich Klinghardt, MD gave the following protocol for provocation.

Optimizing the outcome of Lyme Testing
Give Rizol oil – Gamma and Zeta for 4 weeks (available at www.biopureus.com ) Ramp up the dose to be at full dose for 2 weeksDosage for adults – 120 drops / day – adjust for kids which would be 1/4 to 1/3 of dose max. They will experience die off and healingThen test IgG / IgM Wesern Blot – most will test positive by IgeneX criteria.

NOTE from LIA Foundation:  It is also important to note that the parents should be tested this way as well...both parents.  There are also other methods for doing a provocation.  A Lyme Literatute physician can talk to you about the use of Samento or antibiotics for this same purpose.  Remember to always consult your doctor before implementing any procotol.
