Frequently Asked Questions

My child has never been bit by a tick, how could he have Lyme Disease?

There is emerging evidence suggesting that Lyme Disease can be transmitted in ways other than a tick bite.  The Lyme bacteria (Borellia burgdorferi) has been found in breast milk, semen, mosquitos, fleas, etc.  At this point we cannot rule out that transmission could also be happening congenitally.   We suggest that the mothers also be tested for lyme as many have similar symptoms.  Studies into this area are in progress at this time.

Are you saying that Lyme Disease is the cause of autism?

No.  We think that many children are being born with lyme disease.   Therefore, their immune system is already supressed before the first day of their life.   With a supressed immune system, this makes it free range for damage from mercury, lead, virus, etc. to come in and cause damage.  Lyme could be the "inciting factor" for some children with autism.

What is the treatment for Lyme Induced Autism?

At this point, their is no official treatment.   Typical lyme disease treatment is anti-biotic therapy.  Since candida is a major problem with most children with autism, this makes anti-biotic therapy a tough road.  We are currently bringing the top experts on autism and the top experts on lyme disease together to come up with reasonable treatment options for our children.  Please join the e-mail newsletter so we can keep you updated on the latest news.

How can I help you with this mission?

The Lyme Induced Autism Foundation is full of passion, but not full of money.   Currently we have several ways you can help..

1.  Shop online with our partners - see shop for the cause section of this website.

2.  Donate money to our think tank fund or general operating fund.

3.  Sponsorships - we are currently looking for funding to sponsor travel expenses for speakers for our March conference and think tank event in Dec./Jan.

4.  Volunteer your time.  This foundation is based in Southern California.  However, we need help from all over the country.   We are currently looking for volunteers for....

1.  General help

2.  Fundraising committee
